ADU Applications Surge Statewide under Governor Healey’s Affordable Homes Act

In the first six months of 2025, homeowners in 170 Massachusetts communities filed 844 applications to build ADUs on their properties, of which at least 550 had been approved as of July 2025.
Worcester leads the state in approved ADUs. This is no surprise because they had a very strong ADU law a year prior to the state law, and is an awesome city (One of our faves and our co-founder’s hometown)
Martha’s Vineyard would be the leader if treated as one town. Tisbury had 11, but if combine all 5 towns of Martha’s Vineyard would have 37!!!
